das Rückflugdatum kam schneller als erwartet und nach einem schönen Abend an Cottesloe Beach in Perth letzten Montag, war es am Dienstag an der Zeit die Heimreise anzutreten.
Mittwochmorgen um 6:15 morgens bin ich in Frankfurt gelandet. Eigenartiges Gefühl um diese Uhrzeit als Backpacker in Frankfurt anzukommen und nicht als Business Kasper gen Arbeit zu fliegen.
Die Rückkehr war gar nicht so schlimm, vor allem bei Sonnenschein und mit der Aussicht auf noch ein paar Tage Urlaub.
Momentan bin ich im Allgäu um Familie und Freunde zu besuchen, ein Wochenende in Berlin steht noch an bevor es wieder zurück zur Arbeit geht.

ENG - back to Germany
the date came faster than expected and after a nice last evening at Perth's Cottesloe Beach last Monday the journdy back to Germany started on Tuesday. Wednesday morning 6.15 am touch down at Frankfurt airport. Kind of weird to arrive at Frankfurt airport as a backpacker and not leave somewhere for business at that time of the day.
Being back in Germany wasn't too bad after all, especially as the sun was shining and the prospect of some more days off.
Currently I am in Bavaria to catch up with family and friends and a weekend in Berlin is yet to come before I go back to work.

DE - Exmouth
Exmouth, der letzte Tauchort meiner Reise.
Die Taucherei hat mich ausreichend beschaeftigt um nicht fruezeitig Truebsal zu blasen.
Exmouth ist ein sehr uebersichtlicher Ort mit einem Zentrum von nur einer Strasse.
Die Hostels hier sind meist an Campingplaetze angeschlossen, aber es machen sich einige nette Leute auf den Weg in diesen abgelegenen Ort.
Navy Pier ist definitiv ein hervorragender shore dive und es war genial auf dem 2. liveaboard Trip der von Exmouth aus durgefuehrt wurde zu sein. Mit Hilfe von GPS und Fischfinder haben wir ein paar neue Tauchplaetze erkundet.
whalesharks sind ganz gross in Exmouth. Auch wenn man hier mit den sanften Riesen nur schnorcheln kann, war die Whaleshark Tour sehr schoen.

But no time to be sad as there was some more great diving to be done.
Exmouth itself allows easy orientation as the town center seems to consist only of one street. The backpackers here are mostly integrated in caravan parks, but a few nice people make their way up to this remote town.
Navy Pier is defenitely a fabulous shore dive and it was great to be on the second liveaboard trip that was run from Exmouth. We explored some new dive sites with help of GPS and fish finder and had a great time on the boat. Whalesharks are another big thing in Exmouth. Even though there is only snorkelling with the gentle giants I still had a great time whalesharking.
But now my dive times are over for a while and I'm back in Perth already, preparing for my departure to Germany tomorrow...

DE - Perth and Rottnes Island
Meine Flugverbindung nach Perth war die 'around Australia' Route - Cairns-Melbourne-Perth. Ich habe fast den ganzen Tag im Flugzeug oder auf Flughaefen verbracht und bin letztendlich eine knappe halbe Stunde vor Plan in Perth angekommen.
Ich hatte beschlossen dass ich nach einem Tag Rumsitzen am naechsten Tag ruhig frueh aufstehen und Tauchen gehen kann. Der Tauchausflug nach Rottnest Island war ausnahmsweise mal keine Touristen Tour - daher musste ich mich auf das Abenteuer den Abfahrtsort des Bootes zu finden einlassen.
Gluecklicherweise wollte ich meinen Tauchanzug nicht nass machen und hab mir einen geliehen. Als ich einen zweiteiligen langen Anzug in die Hand gedrueckt bekam, wurde mir klar dass die Wassertemperaturen hier nicht tropisch sein werden.
Auf dem Boot waren meist Einheimische und es war nicht schwer einen Tauch Buddy zu finden.
Das Tauchen war anders als in Asien und am Great Barrier Reef, aber auf jeden Fall empfehlenswert. Ich hab zwei sensationelle Seepferdchen gesehen.
Fuer Ostersonntag hab ich mir ein Fahrrad geliehen und bin durch Perth geradelt. Ein Picnic Stop im Kings Park durfte natuerlich nicht fehlen und ich habe das Haus wieder gefunden in dem wir gewohnt haben als wir vor 5 Jahren nach Australien gekommen sind.
Morgen geht's dann weiter nach Exmouth zum Ningaloo Reef.

My flight schedule incorporated the round Australia route on the way from Cairns to Perth - Cairns-Melbourne-Perth. It took almost all day, but in the end I arrived in Perth 25 mins ahead of schedule.
As I had one day of sitting around on planes I figured that I could get up early the next morning to go diving. For a change the dive trip to Rottnest Island did not seem to be a tourist activity - there were no pick ups provided and finding the departure place was a bit of an adventure.
Luckily I opted for a rental suit because I only found out about the water temperatures when I was given a two piece full suit.
People on the boat were really nice, most of them locals going diving for the day. The diving was different to the Great Barrier Reef and Asia, but still recommendable. I saw two really nice sea horses.
For Easter Sunday I treated myself to a rental bike and cycled around Perth. Picnic at Kings Park couldn't be missed out and I found the house we resided in 5 years ago when we first came to Australia.

DE - Cairns und Great Barrier Reef
Meine Reiseroute in Australien enspricht nicht den normalen Backpacker Pfaden. Ich bin von Sydney direkt nach Cairns geflogen.
Dort genoss ich es von Freunden vom Flughafen abgeholt zu werden. Ich habe sie vor 5 Jahren hier in der Gegend kennengelernt und sie sind letzten Sommer von Deutschland nach Australien ausgewandert. Sie haben mir die Gegend gezeigt und mich am naechsten Morgen zum Treffpunkt meiner naechsten Tauchfahrt gebracht. Super Service!
Ich hstte sehr kurzfristig entschieden von Cairns aus doch tauchen zu gehen, aber es musste was anstaendiges sein. Daher hab ich einen Tauchshop mit gutem Ruf angerufen und hab einen guten Last Minute Preis bekommen.
Die Reisedetails wurden mir erst kurz vor Beginn klar. Die Tour begann mit einem Panorama Flug ueber das Riff nach Lizard Iland wo wir an Bord des Tauchbootes gegangen sind. Das Boot war sehr professionell gefuehrt, die Gaeste an Bord waren sehr nett und das Tauchen war hervorragend. Da es fuer die Tauchgaenge kein Zeitlimit gab, konnte ich meine bisher laengsten Tauchgaenge machen. Alles war wirklich genial.
Heute Frueh sind wir wieder an Land gegangen. Bevor ich morgen nach Perth fliege, darf ich nochmal die Gastfreundschaft meiner Freunde geniessen und werde damit verwoehnt, dass sie mich zum Flughafen bringen.

There I had the pleasure to be picked up at the airport from friends I met on my trip five years ago and moved from Germany to Queensland 8 months ago. They showed me around a bit and brought me to the meeting place of my dive trip the next morning.
On a very short notice I decided to do some diving of Cairns - but it had to be proper diving. So I rang up a quite reputable dive company and got a good last minute deal. I didn't realize until the next day that it was a dive and fly thing. The journey began with a scenic flight above the reef to Lizard Island where we boarded the boat. The boat was run very professionally, there were some nice people on the boat and diving was great. As they do not impose any time limits I could to the longest dives I've done so far. It was just great.
Off the boat this morning. Before I fly on to Perth tomorrow I'll meet my friends, stay with them and enjoy the luxury of being brought off at the airport tomorrow.

Nachdem ich den Temperaturschock ueberwunden und meine Reisegarderobe um Jeans und einen Pulli erweitert hatte, hab ich noch ein paar schoene Tage in Sydney verbracht.
Ich bin kreuz und quer durch die Stadt gelaufen, mit allen moeglichen Faehren durch den Harbour gecruised, habe den Cliff Walk von Bronte nach Bondi absolviert, war am Manly Beach schwimmen und hab bei Doyles in Watsons Bay gegessen.
Alle Hauptattraktionen Sydneys abgehakt.
Zudem war es sehr schoen Leute zu treffen. Ich habe einen Nachmittag mit einer Freundin aus Berlin verbracht und war mit meinen frueheren Chefinnen essen.

After I got over the drop in temperatures and enhanced my travel wardrobe by a pair of jeans and a hoody I had a great time in Sydney.
Walked all around town, went back to the area where I stayed for a couple of months 5 years ago, walked from Bronte to Bondi, took a dip at Manly beach and hat some food at Doyle's in Watson Bay.
All Sydney essentials covered :-). Another great thing was to meet people. I spent an afternoon with a friend from Berlin (it was her last day in Sydney after 3 months there) and met my former bosses for lunch.
